In EDCI 337 we learnt how to create visual aids for learning materials and Meyer’s principles were used in the infographics I created with Canva in week 5. This infographic I presented the basic information about my cat.

I think the goal of multimedia learning objects is to integrate pictures, text, sound and video to make teaching and learning activities more colourful, to learn in a lively way, to interest students and to enhance learning. By studying Mayer’s design principles, I pair the introductory text with the corresponding pictures so that the audience can understand the content of the infographic in a more visual way.
According to the Cognitive Load Theory, I learned that short-term memory has a limited capacity and that overloading reduces its effectiveness for teaching and learning, so infographic should not be overloaded with content, thus removing distractions and making it more effective in transforming what is learnt from short-term to long-term memory.
I have created another infographic for my EDCI 338, and I think the new infographic highlights the text content on the basis of bright colours, so that the audience has more desire to read it and get more visual information while viewing the text. Here is my another infographic:
